It's all in the Mind

Updated: Jun 12, 2020

Whether it is 'positive psychology', the 'power of positive thinking' or 'mind power', they all point in the same direction. It's all in the mind. You have control over three things in your life: the thoughts you think, the images you visualise and the actions you take. To quote Robin Banks, "The life you are living today is the one you are creating. If you don't like it, you can change it". Blunt? Maybe, but it's reality and the truth can hurt.

You can go about moaning and groaning, or you can choose to walk in positivity. Using that old saying, do you see the world as a "glass half empty, or a glass half full"? If you are a half empty kind of person, how does one swing it to looking at the glass as being half full? You need to apply some time, thought and dedication to this process. A few questions to start with: What do I want? What do I want the life that I live to be like? What goals am I living towards? What are my current circumstances? What are the influencers within my system that influence me? How do I respond to the world, systems and people around me? What might be the negative factors, thoughts and beliefs that are holding me back?

Get to know yourself and increase that self-awareness. Understand specifically what negative thoughts may be holding you back, then break those limiting beliefs. Do you know your strengths? Do you know what you have in your arsenal for life? Do you know how to weed out the negativity and set positive thoughts down in your mind, to work your goals and strengths by developing mantras and creating a plan and a vision for yourself? It takes work but it will always be worth it.

The world and us as human beings are probably facing the largest crisis of our lives and as Paul Romer says, "A crisis is a terrible thing to waste". Many of us have experienced hardships we never thought we would experience and now, more than ever, you have to use your mind to your advantage, in a positive manner. If you cannot walk this process and journey on your own, I am ready to assist so give me a call or find an experienced Coach that you are comfortable to work with.

You need to be vigilant in guarding your thoughts. Choose your way and then make a conscious effort to live your best life. "If you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life", by Abraham Maslow.
